(Can you Make Money from Ads using...)

We love BlueHost. We love the fact that you can set up a website with BlueHost in under 5 minutes and the $100 of free credit at Google AdWords and Yahoo Search Marketing ain’t bad either. So, it makes sense that we promote BlueHost as an affiliate marketer. However, their affiliate program doesn’t allow direct linking to the official BlueHost site in a Pay Per Click (Search Marketing) advertising campaign. Which means, you must first send purchased traffic to your site before trying to convice webdesigners to go Blue. Which means, polishing this website and putting our best foot forwards…

We did a little research and checked out what other money-making websites were doing before making some cosmetic changes on our end. Here’s what we did:

  1. Blended our Google AdSense ads so they became part of the site. Teenage blogger, Chloe, made a comment in her youtube video about how you need to make sure your ads blend with the content. We’ve matched the colors and font sizes of our ads to blend in with our website theme.
  2. We made our site more navigatable for both humans and search engine robots by introducing a sitemap to our site.
  3. We’ve tidied up the links on our site by checking for dead links using a WordPress plugin.
  4. We tied up the navigation links (next page, previous page) at the top of our single post page by using another plugin (better nearby post links) which truncates the titles of the following and preceding posts so they don’t wreak havoc with your webdesign.
  5. We polished up our RSS feed and email subscriptions by using feedburner.com

Bottom Line: We’ll be purchasing traffic with AdWords to bring them here to webdiggin.com so they find out how great we think BlueHost is, but, heck if they stick around, read a few posts, and sign up for our RSS subscription - who are we to complain? We’re trying to build a community, with the ultimate goal of generating AdSense traffic as well as BlueHost traffic. We’ll keep you posted.
