(Getting Your $50 Promotion Code...)

In light of a New Year’s Resolution to experiment more with generating revenue through contextual ads on content-based websites, we’re launching some sites. It took us a while to come up with a good creative website name, but we just purchased the domain names RipplesofKindness.com, and SnitchAndBitchCafe.com. (We’ll tell you more about Ripples of Kindness and the Snitch and Bitch Cafe in the next few posts.)

It only cost us $10 per domain name registration to launch each of the three sites because our webhost, BlueHost allows unlimited add-on domain name registrations, once we switched our business to them. Setting up additional websites was ridiculously easy. Once you have an account with BlueHost, it literally took less than 5 minutes to have our new content websites up and running. We just clicked on Register Domain from the BlueHost control panel and it took no time at all to purchase an additional domain name. Then we clicked on the Domain Manager from the BlueHost control panel and saw that our new domain names weren’t pointing anywhere yet. When we clicked on their names, we could set them as “add-on” domains to our account. BlueHost automatically created a subdomain with it’s own folders at the click of a button. Finally, we clicked on Fantastico de Luxe at the bottom of the BlueHost control panel and selected the installer script for WordPress. We filled out some details and with the click of another button, it instantly installed WordPress in our new websites. (When we manually installed WordPress on our old webserve.ca web host, the entire process took about an hour, including instruction-reading time.)It took us less than 5 minutes to have our new domain names pointing to our server and up and running with WordPress. When we typed our new domain names in a web browser, we landed on the default WordPress blog:

Hello world!

Welcome to WordPress. This is your first post. Edit or delete it, then start blogging!

(Mind you, it took considerably more time for us to come up with a good domain name and check to see if the domain was available. We also had already purchased an account with BlueHost. Finally, there’s no content on these websites yet. But we got these websites up and running in under five minutes. As the websites start to flesh out, we’ll let you know…)

[...] Setting up WordPress to fuel our blog was easy.
