Sure we like Google AdSense. It has the lure of the American Dream - Make Money by doing nothing while people visit your site and click on the ads. Except, their context analyzing engine seems to be a little flawed. We use Google Ads on our WhatTheDuck.ca travel blog which is our travelogue detailing our crazy adventures overseas. The name of the site was trying to capture that je ne sais quoi when you travel. Life happens on the road. What the duck, indeed. Too bad Google AdSense thought we were selling duck related products: hunting supplies, duck blinds… what the duck?!
We also use Google Adsense on another one of our content sites: Gohanyo.ca which is a collection of great Japanese recipes with a Canadian twist . Quite different from our travelogue, but we use the same Adsense ID because Google doesn’t allow you to have multiple accounts (unless you have a business under a different names). Sometimes, I think the AdSense engine gets a little confused. Here’s two of the ads it placed on our travel blog today. While we have been up Macchu Picchu, we leave the recipes on our other site.

The beauty of content-driven advertising is that it provides ads that are appropriate to the content of your blog. You focus on creating the content, they focus on providing suitable ads. Presumably someone visiting a travel blog would like additional travel information.
So… we’re looking in the market to see what other Content Ads we can run on our Content Websites… We have a few leads, but we’ll keep you posted.
