We’re on an adventure to make money online (along with everyone else.) So, of course, we’re experimenting with different streams of internet income: affiliate niche websites, pay per click search marketing, sponsored posts, and contextual ads (Google Adwords and the Rubicon Project.)
But that’s not the only way to make money online. If you have the mad skills, you could get into the design aspects. You could become the oil that lubricates the gears of the net: design a blog template or plugin and you could get thousands of backlinks to your site. Heck, when you’re good enough, you could pimp out your design services to the masses.
(We’re almost at the point of hiring a designer to help us solve some template problems on this site. That nagging dropped sidebar. Grr.) If you do have a webdesign business, then advertising on MyCityFaces.com might be the thing for you.
MyCityFaces.com is trying to be a directory to help local businesses find each other. Still in the beta phase, the site is free to post profiles and is broken down by major cities.
You need to provide a service or product… so we wouldn’t be able to create a profile for WebDiggin because we’re just journaling our adventure to make money online. But if you have a tangible service that you’re promoting, then it might be your cup o’ tea. Think hairdressers, web designers, auto shops, landscapers, etc.
We did check out the professionals in our ‘hood. Because the site is still brand-spanking new, we got a lot of “Currently no barbers available” messages. The site currently has a page rank of 0, but I imagine that will change as time goes by. Your website address in the directory gets linked with the pagerank juice left on, so once the directory gets going, it might not be a bad idea to list yourself here.
MyCityFaces is basically an Internet billboard and electronic business card for real people. (No, real people - Hairstylists, Nail Techs, Realtors, Doctors, Mortgage Brokers - do not use entrecard.)
Bottom Line: If you have a product or service, then think about signing up for free and promoting your site
Question: What directories do you use to promote your business or blog?
