Move over Pay Per Post. Hello, Smorty. In the competitive world of blog advertising, Pay Per Post and Smorty are at war.

Smorty is a service connecting advertisers with bloggers. Basically, advertisers pay bloggers to write opinion posts about their services. Unlike Pay Per Post where the minimum number of words is set by the advertiser and can range from 50 words to 200 words or more, Smorty has a flat-rate policy of a minimum of 150 words.

When you blog, you need to include whatever links the advertiser wants in your post. You can’t edit the code and add a “nofollow” tag to preserve your link juice. The link has to be pasted in exactly as it appears in the opportunity posting .

Of all the monetization schemes used by bloggers, blogging for money is the easiest way to make money online. Simply put, you go to the website, you sign up for a job, you write the post, and you get paid.

The big question, is how many job opportunities can be found in the Smorty marketplace?

Bottom Line: We’re trying Smorty out to see if it has more opportunities than Pay Per Post. (Our biggest problem with Pay Per Post is the lack of opportunities. How can we get paid to blog if there are no advertisers chomping at the bit?)

Question: Do you use sponsored posts to make money? Or, do you stay clear so that Google doesn’t slap a Page Rank 0 on your blog as a penalty for accepting paid links.

I do use sponsored post occasionally on different blogs I run, but only if the product is really adding something to the blog. Worried about ranking? Not that much since I don“t overdo it

Hey Mirjam - Like your blog. How are you monetizing it to cover the cost of hosting + domain name registration aside from sponsored posts? The affiliate links weren’t really jumping out at me when I checked it out.

By the way, your blogroll has the link juice taps turned on. Not that those a-list blogs don’t deserve some love, but if you add a nofollow, it might help. (Then again, who am I to say. I have a page rank of 0 and an Alexa ranking of 905,903. You’re already ahead in the game, so you’re obviously doing something great!)
