I’ve read several books that have helped me to change the way I am thinking about money. Robert Kiyosaki’s Rich Dad Poor Dad was great because it helped me to see the difference between employers and employees and to think about my cashflow. Robert Allen’s Multiple Streams of Internet Income (2nd edition) was important because it opened my eyes to the potential of the internet. The problem with Rich Dad Poor Dad was that, although it changed my way of thinking about money and motivated me to act, it didn’t give me a specific path to follow. A lot of hyperbole and examples that seemed a little too incredulous. Multiple Streams of Internet Income (2nd edition) was better because Robert Allen walks you through what he does to create millions online. I know my friend began to do online affiliate marketing after reading this book, however, I still felt a little frustrated because I felt I could repeat his example of earning $24,000 in 24 hours. He does it by using his mailing list and priming them with offers of services that he provides (i.e. personal coaching on how to create millions.) Unfortunately I can’t offer the same services that he can - I’m not running millionaire retreats (yet).

So imagine my surprise when a friend suggested that I read Anthony Borelli and Greg Holden’s Affiliate Millions. I like Affiliate Millions the most because it has given me very clear directions that I can follow towards setting up affiliate accounts and advertising them using Google Adwords. In fact, I’ve decided that this will be the first strategy I try to crack the puzzle of earning incredible cash through the internet. The current plan is this:

  1. Set up accounts with the affiliate programs and networks recommended in Affiliate Millions
  2. Spend the next week focused on researching keywords - which ones should I use for my first advertising campaign…
  3. Test some of my affiliate links to make sure they work correctly…
  4. Decide my budget and carefully consider the time difference between when I will owe Google AdWords money and when the affiliate programs pay out…
  5. Research carefully the advertising copy that is successful at the top of google’s sponsored links…
  6. Write my own advertising campaign
  7. Take the plunge and launch the advertising campaign using Google AdWords…
  8. Carefully monitor the advertising campaign to make sure it’s working…

Stay tuned to see how it all turns out!
