(I Don't Win. I Dominate.)
Mar 23

We just did another two opportunites for PayPerPost. It’s rare that there are actual opportunities for us to take on PayPerPost, so when we saw them, we jumped!

Then we stayed up ridiculously late to finish them before they disappeared. WordPress allows you to schedule your posts, so we have posts lined up for this Easter weekend all ready to go. Then we shuffled in our sponsored posts in between our regularly scheduled programming, and voila, $20 more bucks in our pockets. (Assuming the posts get approved. We have had trouble in the past, you know.)

The opportunity requirements for these latest posts accepted any minimum google page rank, but required a RealRank of 5 (Top 50%). When we checked out the stats in PayPerPost for WebDiggin, we found out that we had the following:

Google Rank: 0
Alexa Rank: 2,218,069
RealRank: 2807.
Overall Tack Rating: 3 (out of 5)

This, ofcourse, raises the question: What’s RealRank, and do we need another way to measure blog success? According to the PayPerPost help section, the answer to the second question is yes.

  • Google PageRank is “both self serving and irrelevant to actual traffic and influence.”
  • Alexa rank is based on traffic of people who have installed the Alexa toolbar.
  • RealRank is based on actual traffic to the site. They also disclose their formula:
    • 70% on daily unique visitors,
    • 20% by daily active inbound links and
    • 10% by daily page views as reported by ITK (Izea Tool Kit).

Ok. So… what does my real rank of 2807 actually mean? If a real rank of 5 means you’re in the top 50% Is 2807 really good or really bad?

Bottom Line:  Keep on working to get traffic to Webdiggin – An Adventure to Make Money Online. More traffic means a better Alexa rank, more exposure so eventually we’ll find people who like our posts and will link to them, and more paid per post opportunities.

Question: Does anyone know what the RealRank numbers mean?
