I’m a firm believer in give first and the universe will give back in return. Sure you can do link exchanges and if you entrecard me, I’ll entrecard you. But does that really generate real traffic?
Chances are if you leave a thoughtful comment, other readers and the blog owner will follow you back to find out more about you. And if they’re interested, they’ll leave a message. And a genuine dialogue will evolve.
But, I’m also a firm beliver in being efficient with the time you spend blogging. I got inspired by Caroline Middlebrook’s post on having a blog commenting strategy. Who uses the top commentor plugin? Who turns on the pagerank link juice in their comments? We do. We’ve tried to make WebDiggin blogger friendly to encourage bloggers to leave a message.
So why not get more bang for your buck with your karmic retribution? We’re listing blogs that are comment friendly by sending back links or link juice to your blog.
If we missed your blog, or can think of any others that are blogger friendly, leave a comment and we’ll add it to our list. Bloggers are constantly tweaking this sites, so we added the date that we checked things out. If things change, just let us know and we can update this post.

Bottom Line: More bang for our buck. We wanted to focus on leaving comments on blogs that have high pagerank, do-follow on comments, use comment luv to show our latest posts, or top commentor to send us extra love.
Question: Do you have a comment strategy? How do you pick which blogs to comment on?

I perfectly agree. If I leave a comment on a blog, I strive that I would be able to add another valuable information to what was already posted. It causes discomfort on me to see comments with “tnx, great post, yeah…blah…blah…” and all sorts of non-sense addition to the information overload in the Internet. The same thing applies to conversation. “I will only speak if I cannot improve the silence.”

Bravo. By leaving so many comments around the site, you’ve scored the position of top commentator and managed to get 14+ links back to your site. 14 links with all of the link juice left in it.
Plus, you’ve given me things to blog about for the next few days. Appreciate the dialog

thanks a lot for adding me onto that list. It is really appreciated. The table you have is cut off though so I can’t see what’s on the right side. I’ve never really looked into the comment luv plugin before. I’ll take a look and think about adding it in. Thanks again!

whoops! Sorry about the table cut off. There’s a last column that shows when I checked out the sites. You know how blogs change.
I’m thinking about trying to figure out how to make the table dynamic. You know, click the column heading and sort by that information. We’ll see. I have a couple of projects on the go.
Good luck with your affiliate program, by the way.

I really love the commentluv plugin, using it on my own blog as well and many times it has led me to read other posts because of the catchy titles. As far as a commenting strategy in order to get backlinks, I used to have a real strategy in the beginning but now I only comment on posts that I really did enjoy reading or that ask for some interaction.
As far as offering linkjuice, I do agree with you. I have switched on both do-follow and the top commentators plugin because I really appreciate all the feedback my readers give me, only fair to give something back, and fortunately only have had to manually delete a few spam comments that slid through kismet

Yeah. I think this is why I like WordPress so much more than Blogger (where our roots are.) Just the added functionality of the plugins - you can do some incredible things.
By the way, I really appreciate you peppering the site with comments. It’s nice to know they’re someone else out there reading your stuff. It took us a while to figure out that we needed to be pro-active and commenting on blogs to get attention.
You might want to get the SEO plugin for firefox from SEOBook (your blogroll is leaking. Maybe intentionally?). It highlights the links on a page that are nofollow so you can see where the taps are leaking. I leave my comment links on and use the top commentators plugin, but I turn off my linkjuice for affiliate links and blogrolls (unless I really like them).

Hi WebDiggin,
Web Hosting Reality blog is a PR3 site. I don’t why that in digpagerank.Com I got a PR0 but in other PR checker sites, it shows I have PR3.
You know what. I never cared on checking Alexa Ranking. But since you made mentioned of it, I did check it in Alexa. I hope to bring down the number next month.
I’m using blogger and I haven’t found a plugin or module to make WebHosting Reality a dofollow site in its comment link. For my Wordpress websites, I do use dofollow comment plugin.

Sorry Cheap Webhosts… You’re right I made a rookie move. I had gone to one of your posts and the Google toolbar was reading a PR0, but when I went to your homepage http://webhostingreality.blogspot.com/, it was a PR3. I’ve updated the chart above.
Your Alexa rank dropped a little, so I updated it as well. When you reach PR4, lemme know and I’ll change it again.
By the way, we installed the SEO tool for firefox plugin from SEObook. We have an upcoming post where we talk about how we use it for keyword research, but one of the cool features is that it can highlight all of the links on a page that are nofollow…
The only reason I mention it was because when we visited your page, we noticed all of your affiliate links have the link juice turned on. Sure, they’re going to your php forwarding pages, but they’re still sending link juice there. Is that intentional? I wonder if your page rank would go up if you added a nofollow tag to those affiliate links…

Hi Mark, the SEO for Firefox is very informative. I have to turn it off if I am not doing market research, otherwise it will slow down the browser’s movement.
It is not intentional. I use it for beauty’s sake and for convenience. CJ URLs and other affiliate URLs are very long and I don’t like seeing them that way.
Whatever is the link juice for the forwarded pages, it’s up to Google to decide.

Hello, on that list I’m Blog Money Wiki, and I have the no follow free plug ins, but I set it so that the no follow attribute is removed from comments from the third comment of a particular user. That way only regular commenters will have this attribute removed, not the occasional commenter who just post a mindless comment to see if the link has the no follow attribute or not. That’s another way to encourage multiple comments.
I wanted to use the top commenters as well, but somehow I forgot about it along the way, as you noticed it was my first bloggin experience and I haven’t been regular so far, I will add it later

Hey James, Thanks for the heads up. We’ve updated the table accordingly.
It’s a good idea - waiting to turn off the nofollow only after so many comments to encourage regular comments. You probably have enough traffic that you get more than your fair share of one-liner comments. (We’re so new, we get excited when akismet catches the spam that occasionally lands on our blog)

I’ve been looking for lists like this with noFollow and commentLuv bloggers. I found another one you may be interested in here: http://nicusor.com/do-follow-list/ . It’s got over 300 DoFollow bloggers. I just found out about the anti-NoFollow movement, and think it’s great to see the blogging community wrestling some power away from Google and the like.

Hey Megapixels - thanks for the link to nicusor.com. Wow, that’s definetely a more complete list, and it’s neat to follow through the various people who have (re)published the list.
Back in the day when we started this list, we wanted to create a clickable, sortable list, so you could rank by alexa, google page rank, or whatever else it was that you thought was valuable.
We figured out how to create dynamic sortable tables in WordPress (check out our example on our domain names project), but we haven’t applied the same wizardry to this table… yet.
Maybe we will if there’s interest.
